Once bedbugs enter your home, you’re going to have a difficult problem to deal with. The issue is that bedbugs are difficult to find and eliminate. When they hide in your home, you likely won’t notice until the infestation spirals out of control. With that being said, it would be a good idea to learn how to make bedbugs come out of hiding. By doing that, you’ll be able to identify and fix the problem sooner. Doing so can help you avoid a headache and save money.

Bedbugs often hide in spots that are rarely inspected. For instance, they’ll hide in baseboard gaps, bed frames, furniture, and clothes. Use the advice below to force them out of hiding.

Making Them Come Out

If you suspect you have bedbugs, you’ll want to convince them to come out of hiding. Thankfully, this isn’t hard to achieve. Use the advice below.

  • Bedbugs generally hide during the day and come out at night. You might be able to force them out of hiding by simulating nighttime. Make your bedroom as dark as possible and see if the bugs come out.
  • Another way to convince them to come out of hiding is by using bedbug traps. Many of these traps use CO2 and heat to lure bedbugs out of hiding. Most of them will last 6 hours or longer. Plus, they may be compatible with refills.
  • Using a bedbug steamer is a good way to solve two problems simultaneously. A steamer will release high levels of heat and steam. When you use it close to the bedbug’s hiding place, they will come out of hiding. If you can spray the steam close enough to the bedbugs, it will kill them. Steam treatments eliminate bedbugs on contact.
  • Remember that heat and CO2 lure bedbugs out of hiding. With that being said, you’ll want to use bedbug traps that release both. Set them on your bed and wait. Many of these traps contain glue that will trap and kill the bedbugs. If you find bedbugs stuck in the glue, you have an infestation.
  • Don’t forget to dry your clothes. Always use the hottest temperature and let it dry for 15 minutes or longer. Doing this will eliminate the bedbugs hiding on the clothes and sheets.

If these techniques do not work, you can take advantage of bedbug lures.
